Migration: Belongings
Migration is a complicated business, migration of humans and their belongings is no exception.
Whether it is something we own that we're afraid to lose, or something we think will be needed where we're going, we choose to carry things with us from place to place while we move across the Earth.
What is it that drives us to migrate objects as well as our bodies? What do we really pack into the many different journeys we go on? Is it not the hopes, dreams and expectations of what the journey will bring? Do the belongings we choose to, or are able to take with us reflect the potential of these less-tangible concepts?
The Migration series explores themes around migration of living beings and their belongings, with the 3D sculptures and artefacts that can be folded, collapsed and be carried from one place to another, a migrating series in itself.
